ABOUT US

Isaiah 58:6-11

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."

The verses to the left are the foundation for FastFeed.  There are billions of people around the world that do not have the resources to meet many of their most basic needs (food, shelter, medical care, etc.)  At the same time, many of us who live in first world countries, such as the United States, have vastly more than we need.  Due to the abundance of food, we are facing some catastrophic problems, such as an obesity epidemic that threatens individual health and strains our medical system moreso each year.

FastFeed is all about solving the issues on both sides of that equation.  Amazingly enough, the solution really is very simple.  What is it?  One word:  Fasting (aka. intermittent fasting or IF).

Fasting has been and still is practiced by many around the world for religious reasons, but science has also proven that fasting is incredibly good for our bodies.  You will find more detailed information about the health benefits on our 'Learn/Share' page.

So, do you need to lose a few pounds and get in shape?  Intermittent fasting is a phenomenal place to start.  For most it just involves skipping one or two meals a day (that's what we mean by 'Do nothing') on one or two days a week.  You don't even have to go a whole day without eating and you will be amazed at how much better you feel and how much fat you will burn ('Change everything' starts right here).

That covers the fasting part, but what about the feeding idea?  Well, it is just as simple ('Change everything' really gets going here).  When you skip a meal, all we are asking you to do is calculate how much you would have spent on it and set that money aside to donate to a charity that cares for the less fortunate.  For example, let's say that you decide to skip breakfast and lunch today.  You would normally spend about $5 on a cup of coffee and breakfast sandwich at the drive thru and maybe $6 for lunch out with coworkers.  Or if you want to base your giving on the cost of an average meal prepared at home, the USDA says it is about $3.  You add up the amount you saved by fasting during the week or for an entire month and then you donate that money to meet the needs of those who don't have enough.  Information on some great charities to support is located on the 'Donate Now' page.

That's it!  It really couldn't be much easier and as we said before, it's a win-win situation.  We really hope that you'll join this movement and take the time to tell others about it as well.  Thanks for looking around.  If you have any questions or would like to share your story, we would love to hear from you.

*Fasting is only recommended for adults and always talk to you doctor before beginning a new weight loss or exercise regimen.
